Why do they cost more then normal tie dyes? What are Tye-Glo Fingerprints, aka hard spots? I am local, can I save on shipping and pick up?
Tye Glo utilizes a special process that uses Florescent airbrush paints instead of dyes. There are no "dyes" made that glow under Blacklights. This is why you have NEVER SEEN a TRUE Blacklight tie dye. The florescent paints are thinned out to a dye form, and the tie dye is created. Unlike normal tie dyes its not over yet! Before being untied the paints have to be set (bonded) by baking in a oven for 1 - 2 hours. The internal temperature of shirt is raised too 300 degrees and the thinner is slowly evaporated. Once this process is completed the shirts are untied and hung to dry. Final step is a good ironing and it is done. This produces a long lasting, bright vibrant shirt in the light and sunlight which also GLOWS BRIGHTLY under blacklights.
Why do they cost more then normal tie dyes? As explained above, the process of making these shirts takes a lot more time then normal tie dyes. Another BIG factor is the airbrush paint cost per shirt, aprox $4-$5. Normal dyes only cost about 50 cents per shirt when you do large batches ... Dyes are cheap so its easy to sell them for $15 - $20. Plus I only use quality shirts, Gildan preshrunk Heavyweights
What are Tye-Glo Fingerprints, aka hard spots? One very unique feature is what I call Tye-Glo Fingerprints. They are created by Ozzmosis. During the baking stage, as the outside of shirt begins to dry, it will slowly draw the moisture from the center. And with the moisture it draws some paints to outside edges creating lines in the shirt. When you first get the shirt these lines MAY seem a little hard in areas where the paint is built up. But do not worry! After wearing a couple times and a wash they will be soften up, but the finger prints never go away

NO. These do not glow in total darkness. But when a Blacklight or UV light is present it will glow brightly in dark areas.
